You May Look Fine. But How Are You, Really?

You are still doing what needs to be done. Work gets handled. People still come to you. You answer messages, manage conflict, make decisions, and keep moving.

But you are pissed off before you even get to work. You bring the stress home. You have no patience left for your partner, your kids, your colleagues, or yourself. You may be lying awake, thinking about quitting, wondering why you are so mad, or asking yourself, "What is wrong with me?"

I’m Nancy LeBlanc, MSW, RSW, a Registered Social Worker with 27 years of experience, licensed to practise in Ontario through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and in Prince Edward Island through the PEI Social Work Board.

Why Work With Me

My background includes 21 years in high-stress, high-crisis frontline work, along with specialized training in solution-focused therapy, mediation, conflict resolution, co-parenting, adoption, and court-related family work.

I am not a nod-and-listen therapist. Many of the people who work well with me have tried therapy before and left thinking, “That was nice, but nothing changed.” They do not want to sit in silence. They do not want vague questions. They want clarity.

My approach is direct, practical, honest, and still clinical. I talk in real-life words. I do not use much jargon. I do not tell you what to do.

Often, the struggle is not a diagnosis. It is a pattern. We look at what is happening, what keeps getting repeated, what role you are playing, and what you want to do with all of this.

My Approach To Therapy

My approach is solution-focused at the core. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, motivational interviewing, mediation, conflict resolution, and family systems training.

What that means in session is not complicated. I listen. I ask questions. I help you look at your patterns, emotions, behaviours, and the messages you may be repeating without realizing it.

We may work on emotional regulation, boundaries, mindfulness, communication, or responding rather than reacting. We may talk through real situations from work, home, separation, parenting, or conflict so the tools make sense in your actual life.

I pull from different approaches as they fit. I am not highly scripted. I am not big on homework for the sake of homework. Most of the work happens outside of therapy, in your real life.

What Working With Me Is Like

Therapy with me is an active conversation. I listen. I ask questions. I may pause you and say, “I want to go back to something you said,” or “I’d like to challenge that word.” Challenge is not a bad word. Sometimes it is where the useful work starts. We may talk about what you heard versus what was actually said. We may look at why a conversation escalated, why a boundary did not hold, or why you keep reacting in a way you regret later.

I do not remove the discomfort. I help you find ways to make it useful.

That matters for the clients I work best with: high-functioning, Type A, driven professionals who are used to being capable. Nurses, doctors, lawyers, engineers, EMS personnel, police, fire personnel, correctional officers, teachers, entrepreneurs, managers, social workers, therapists, and child protection workers often recognize themselves here.

This is probably not the right fit if you want to stay comfortable, vent without reflection, or blame everyone else without looking at your own role.

Getting To Know Me

My path to private practice came through 21 years on the front line of high-stress, high-crisis work. I understand burnout, vicarious trauma, conflict, competing demands, and the pressure of being the person everyone expects to stay steady. I also know what it is like to reach out for support and sit across from someone who does not get it.

That experience shaped how I work now. I am comfortable with discomfort. I can sit in the messy parts without trying to polish them. I can work with conflict without getting pulled into it.

I have helped a lot of people. They tell me they have learned from our work together. What they may not always know is how much I have learned from them, too.

Clinical Training & Credentials

Begin Therapy in Toronto

Bracken Path Therapy offers in-person therapy in Mid-Town Toronto and virtual therapy across Ontario and Prince Edward Island.

Sessions are available in 50-minute or 75-minute formats. Weekly sessions are often recommended for the first 4 to 6 weeks when stress, burnout, conflict, or emotional reactivity is already affecting daily life.

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. That conversation is for us to determine whether we are a fit for each other.

If You Already Know Something Has To Change

If you are tired of thinking about it, talking yourself out of it, and ending up in the same loop, start with a free 15-minute consultation at Bracken Path Therapy and see if we think we are a fit.

You do not have to tackle all of these feelings, worries, and concerns by yourself.
