Burnout Therapy
You're not broken. You're burnt out, and you've probably been carrying it alone for a while now.
Burnout therapy at Bracken Path Therapy is direct, practical support for high-functioning professionals who are still holding everything together on the outside and running on nothing underneath. We won't spend sessions circling how you feel. We'll name what's actually happening and work out what you want to do about it.
Signs You Might Recognize
You're irritable before the workday even starts
You bring the tension home and have nothing left for the people you love
Sleep isn't doing what it used to
The things that used to give you a break have quietly disappeared from your calendar
You've called in sick when you weren't sick, because you couldn't face it
You keep thinking "I should just quit," then feel ashamed for thinking it
If you've been asking yourself am I burnt out, or just tired, that question is often a sign on its own. The fog is part of what burnout does.
Why the Most Capable People Burn Out the Hardest
Capable people get rewarded for coping. You solve the problem, cover the shift, take the call, hold the line, and tell yourself you'll deal with it later. Later keeps moving. By the time most people reach out, they're already deep in it: reactive, exhausted, running on fumes they can't explain to anyone who hasn't lived it.
Then they try therapy and get a version that mostly listens and nods. For someone who already has insight and wants to do something with it, that isn't relief. It's another way of staying stuck.
What Burnout Therapy Can Help With
Setting boundaries around your workload that actually hold
Untangling work conflict from what you bring home
The shame that shows up right after "I should just quit"
Making a real decision about the job, instead of circling it for another year
Getting your sleep, patience, and evenings back
Sorting out what's actually yours to carry, and what isn't
Direct Support, Not a Nod-and-Listen Therapist
Nancy LeBlanc has spent 27 years in this work, including 21 years front-line in high-stress, high-crisis roles, and she's been burnt out herself. She describes it this way: "I help clients maneuver through the dense bracken, where things are unclear, messy, uncomfortable, and difficult."
Sessions draw on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy along with CBT, DBT, and ACT, used as they fit rather than run as a fixed program. Nancy listens and asks pointed questions, and she'll challenge a specific word or thought pattern when it matters. She won't tell you what to do about your job or your life. She'll help you get clear enough to decide for yourself.
What Can Start to Feel Different
Pausing before you snap at someone you love
Leaving work at a reasonable hour without the guilt spiral that follows
Saying no to one more thing without over-explaining yourself
Making a real decision about the job instead of putting it off another year
Sleeping through more nights than not
